Replacing Mike Evans is one of the biggest questions facing the Tampa Bay Buccaneers entering the 2026 season, but Lavonte David believes the team already has the pieces to handle it.

During an appearance on The Jim Rome Show, David expressed confidence in Tampa Bay's wide receiver room despite the loss of the franchise's all-time leading receiver. A clip of the interview was shared by SleeperBucs on X.

"You've got a receiving room who can fill the void of losing Mike Evans. You won't say everyone can replace Mike, but it's a collective group that can do a lot of great things."

David's comments reflect the approach the Buccaneers appear ready to take this season. Rather than asking one player to replicate everything Evans brought to the offense, Tampa Bay has assembled a deep receiving corps that can spread the workload.

Emeka Egbuka is expected to step into a much larger role after a mildly encouraging rookie campaign, while Chris Godwin returns as one of Baker Mayfield's most trusted targets. The Buccaneers also added third-round rookie Ted Hurst III, and they'll continue to evaluate Jalen McMillan and Tez Johnson as they compete for additional snaps.

No player can truly replace what Evans meant to the organization after 12 seasons in Tampa Bay. His production, leadership, and consistency helped define one of the most successful eras in franchise history.

David doesn't believe that's the expectation, though. Instead, he sees a talented group capable of replacing Evans' production by committee, giving the Buccaneers confidence that their passing game can remain one of the strengths of the offense in 2026.
