After a hectic British Open, Ryan Fox is officially the 2026 Champion Golfer of the Year.
Fox outlasted Cameron Young and Sam Burns to secure the major win and close out golf's major season in England. While Young and Burns were much bigger names who had been closer to majors in previous attempts, Fox's guts and resilience allowed him to come away with the Claret Jug.

Who is Ryan Fox?
Fox is a 39-year-old professional golfer from New Zealand who plays on both the PGA Tour and the European Tour. He has two career PGA Tour wins, both coming last year in the RBC Canadian Open and the Myrtle Beach Classic, and has been a steady presence on the tour.

Not only does this win mark Fox's first major victory, but it's also his first finish in the top 10 of a major tournament.
Previously, Fox's best major finish came in the 2019 British Open, but he has made 12 cuts in his last 14 major appearances so he is not a stranger to playing through the weekend.
