Nebraska making a run at four-star class of 2028 tight end
· Yahoo Sports
Nebraska football is working its way into the mix for a top prospect in the class of 2028. Four-star tight end Israel Johnigan is seeing his recruitment rise, and the Huskers are a part of it. He spoke recently in an interview with Rivals’ Allen Trieu (subscription required) earlier this week.
Johnigan is the sixth overall player at his position and the second overall player in his class from the state of Missouri, according to the Rivals Industry Rankings. Although his recruitment is still in the early stages, the picture is becoming a bit clearer.

He is going to take several visits based on a strong rapport with the coaches, and the Huskers were able to make the cut. He also indicated that he has the closest relationships with Kansas State, Minnesota, Nebraska, Iowa State, and Northwestern.
Currently, the program has no commitments in the 2028 class. However, they are beginning to lay the groundwork for that group. Tight end is going to be an important position to land, as the Huskers have several upperclassmen on the roster, led by Luke Lindenmeyer.
Now, it’s about building for the future.
