Whenever a team gets a new head coach and general manager, you can expect major changes to follow. That was the case with the Atlanta Falcons, who've gone through some major roster turnover since hiring Kevin Stefanski and Ian Cunningham.

The Falcons made the most of their limited resources in free agency and the 2026 NFL Draft, but there was only so much they could do at the end of the day. Several players changed teams, while well over a dozen free agents were added to Atlanta's roster.

A few members of last year's team remain unsigned for the 2026 season, from edge rusher Leonard Floyd to wide receiver KhaDarel Hodge. With one week until players report to camp, let's take a look at five former Falcons players who are still available in NFL free agency.

5 former Falcons available in NFL free agency

  1. EDGE Leonard Floyd
  2. LB Josh Woods
  3. WR KhaDarel Hodge
  4. WR Malik Heath
  5. OT Tyrone Wheatley Jr.

Floyd is the most accomplished of this group by far, and even though he didn't have a memorable 2025 campaign, the veteran edge is likely still on defensive coordinator Jeff Ulbrich's radar in case James Pearce Jr. gets suspended. Floyd had 3.5 sacks last season, which was the first time in five years he finished with less than 8.5 sacks.

Another player who the Falcons might want to look at is linebacker Josh Woods. In fact, we wouldn't be surprised if he returns to Atlanta at some point, even if only on the practice squad. Also, depending on what happens with the team's undrafted wide receivers, veteran KhaDarel Hodge could be an option.

While Hodge may not have experience in Kevin Stefanski's offense, he's a quality depth option who previously made the Pro Bowl due to his special teams contributions. Then there's wide receiver Malik Heath.

The Falcons opted not to place a restricted free agent tender on the former Packers wideout at the start of the offseason. Heath remains unsigned one week from the start of training camp.

Last but not least, offensive lineman Tyrone Wheatley Jr. has also failed to catch on with another team. Both Wheatley and Heath will likely land with another team's practice squad.

According to Over the Cap, the Falcons have around $37.9 million available ahead of training camp.
