People are so focused on the Cleveland Browns' quarterback battle between Shedeur Sanders and Deshaun Watson that they may be losing sight of the real issue for the Browns to win games in 2026.

No matter who is the quarterback, whether it's Sanders or Watson, that signal-caller has to have a strong offense around him. He needs targets.

Any quarterback, whether he's average or the best quarterback in the league, needs some good wide receivers around him. Now, heading into the new season, Sanders and Watson may be short in their wideout room, based on a new ranking.

Shedeur Sanders and Deshaun Watson need a solid wide receiver room

On Wednesday, Jeremy Fowler of ESPN unleashed his list of the top wide receivers for 2026. The roster is based on a survey of league executives, coaches and scouts.

No Browns players appeared on the list. We're talking the Browns' wideout room getting shut out of the top 10, honorable mentions and "also receiving votes" section. That's a problem for both Sanders and Watson.

Jerry Jeudy, of course, is the No. 1 receiver for the Browns. They rely on him for seasoned guidance and direction. But, his 2025 showing wasn't strong enough to make ESPN's cut. The good news is that the Browns have two promising wideouts who are rookies this season: KC Concepcion, a first-round draft pick, and Denzel Boston, a second-round pick. Expect both of them to duke it out to be primary targets with Jeudy and guys like Cedric Tillman.

So, it's not over for the Browns or their offense. But the conversation needs to expand beyond just the quarterback. Building a reliable wide receiver group should become a priority, giving whoever takes the snaps a better chance to succeed.
