Bills Only Have 2 Players Ranked in PFN’s NFL Top 100 Despite Entering 2026 Season As Top Contender
· Yahoo Sports
Once again, the Buffalo Bills are viewed as one of the top Super Bowl contenders coming out of the AFC. Of course, as long as they have former NFL MVP Josh Allen, buying into the Bills’ chances to win, really, every game they play, isn’t a bad move.
The truth is, with Allen, they always have a chance. Yet, after making a big coaching change by firing Sean McDermott and promoting offensive coordinator Joe Brady to head coaching duties, nothing is guaranteed in Buffalo.

While the Bills may be viewed as contenders, it looks like Allen will once again have to do nearly all the heavy lifting, because they have just two members on Pro Football Network’s Top 100 player rankings this year.
Allen Ranks No. 1, Which Other Bills Player Joins Him?
Okay, so the Bills may only have two players, but their top player ranks really high.
In fact, coming in at No. 1 on PFN’s top 100 players list is none other than the Bills’ QB himself. PFN’s analyst Ian Cummings sees Allen as one of a kind.
“He’s a kind of QB we may never see again: An alien runner with a rocket arm, and the operational intelligence to match,” Cummings wrote.
Next and last among the Bills on the top 100 is running back James Cook, who came in at No. 45. He ranked fifth among all running backs, just behind Bijan Robinson and ahead of Jonathan Taylor.

“Cook has been a top performer for much of his NFL career, earning Pro Bowl recognition in each of his last three seasons. He led the league with 16 rushing touchdowns in 2024, and he followed that up by leading the league with 1,621 rushing yards in 2025. He’s graded fifth among running backs in each of those seasons, as well. He’s a cornerstone for the Bills’ offense and is easily their best offensive playmaker that Allen has to work with.”
The Bills’ top playmaker not named Allen is indeed the running back. Chances are, that won’t change in 2026 either. While the Bills traded for DJ Moore, no one in Buffalo (aside from Allen) will touch the ball more than Cook this season. He’ll have no trouble living up to his ranking, and possibly even improving upon it.
Still, the Bills have just two players among the NFL’s best 100, and both are on offense. Should the Bills be concerned about that?
It just means others, especially on defense after coach McDermott’s departure, will need to step up, not just to prove others wrong, but to take some of the burden off Allen and Cook’s shoulders. We’ll see who’s capable of making a name for themselves later this fall.
