Hawthorne was selected by the Steelers in the first round of the 1979 NFL Draft and played in Pittsburgh for five seasons. Hawthorne also played for the New England Patriots (1984-1986) and Indianapolis Colts (1987) to close out his NFL career.
Once a Steeler, always a Steeler, Hawthorne will forever be remembered in the hearts of those in Pittsburgh and around the NFL. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family during this difficult time.
