Building on the overwhelming response to the launch of IMC MSME Champions 2026 on the World MSME Day, the IMC Chamber of Commerce and Industry (IMC) convened the first IMC MSME Champions meeting, bringing together the IMC MSME Champions for an engaging and solution-oriented dialogue on business growth, expansion opportunities, industry challenges and policy reforms. The meeting marked the next phase of the IMC MSME Champions initiative, moving beyond recognition to meaningful industry engagement. It provided a platform for entrepreneurs to share their business challenges, growth aspirations and policy recommendations with IMC, enabling the Chamber to consolidate these industry insights and represent them before the respective Government bodies and relevant Ministries. The objective was to ensure that the genuine concerns and suggestions of MSMEs are translated into actionable policy recommendations that support business growth, competitiveness and ease of doing business. A key objective of the meeting was to develop a structured industry agenda for IMC's Engage Maharashtra Forum, the Chamber's dedicated platform for policy advocacy with the Government of Maharashtra.
The discussions centred on the growth journeys of the participating enterprises, their future expansion plans, access to finance, infrastructure requirements, skilled workforce availability, export competitiveness, regulatory simplification, technology adoption, innovation, sustainability and the evolving needs of India's MSME sector. Participants also highlighted sector-specific challenges and identified practical measures that could enhance the ease of doing business and strengthen Maharashtra's position as a preferred destination for manufacturing, innovation and entrepreneurship.

Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Mahendra Kumar Chouhan, President, IMC emphasised that, "The IMC MSME Champions initiative goes beyond recognising entrepreneurial excellence—it is about building a long-term partnership with India's MSMEs. Through the IMC MSME Champions initiative, our vision is to nurture world-class, future-ready business leaders who will drive innovation, competitiveness and sustainable growth, contributing significantly to the vision of Viksit Bharat. MSMEs are the backbone of India's economy, and by bringing together some of the country's most innovative enterprises, IMC aims to build a strong collective voice that helps shape policies conducive to business growth and economic development. We remain committed to taking this partnership forward by strengthening industry-government dialogue, advocating for meaningful policy reforms, and creating an enabling ecosystem that empowers MSMEs to scale, compete globally and become key drivers of India's economic transformation."
The IMC MSME Champions will meet periodically to monitor emerging industry trends, identify policy priorities and strengthen collaboration among entrepreneurs, industry experts and policymakers. The initiative reflects IMC's continued commitment to fostering a resilient, globally competitive and innovation-driven MSME ecosystem that contributes meaningfully to Maharashtra's industrial development and India's economic progress.
