As expected, Bayern Munich has extended the contract of young attacker Arijon Ibrahimović through 2028 per a release from FCBayern.com:

FC Bayern are set to integrate forward Arijon Ibrahimović into head coach Vincent Kompany’s first team for the new season. The 20-year-old spent the past season on loan at 1. FC Heidenheim. Ibrahimović, who has been with FC Bayern since 2018, is under contract until 30 June 2028. He had gained experience at Italian first-division sides Frosinone Calcio and Lazio before his spell at Heidenheim. He will wear the number 22 shirt.

Ibrahimović joined FC Bayern’s youth from 1. FC Nürnberg at the age of 12. He impressed with his performances for the reserves and made his first-team debut against VfL Bochum at the age of 17 in February 2023. He made 34 competitive appearances for Heidenheim last season, scoring two goals and setting up another five. He made his debut for Germany’s U21s in November and has made two appearances for them so far.

Bayern Munich sporting director Christoph Freund was happy to keep the longtime academy player, who spent last season on loan at Heidenheim.

“Arijon joined FC Bayern when he was twelve years old. He has progressed step by step through our Campus and targeted loan spells. In the last year at Heidenheim in particular, he has learned a lot personally to be ready for FC Bayern. His development is a great example of the opportunities we offer our talents. Now it’s no longer only about learning – it’s about making his mark here at FC Bayern,” said Freund.

Ibrahimović is expected to backup all four attacking positions and met with Vincent Kompany before deciding to extend his deal. According to those reports, Kompany laid out a convincing plan for Ibrahimović to show how the 20-year-old would get playing time.
