Patriots get massive roster shake-up in NFL.com's 7-round mock redraft
· Yahoo Sports
The New England Patriots have worked hard at building their roster back up to a hopeful perennial Super Bowl contender. So this idea of a roster shake-up might not be as ideal for fans still suffering PTSD from back-to-back 4-13 seasons.

But overall, NFL.com's Chad Reuter had a fun and creative idea: a mock redraft for the 2026 season with every current player up for grabs. This is great news for the worst teams in the league, who now have an immediate shot at landing a franchise quarterback.
As for a team like the Patriots, who made it to the Super Bowl last season and picked 31st overall, it was a much tougher day at the office.
Patriots seven-round 2026 mock draft selections
- Round 1: QB Brock Purdy (No. 31 overall)
- Round 2: WR A.J. Brown, WR (No. 34)
- Round 3: EDGE DeMarcus Lawrence (No. 95)
- Round 4: OT Joe Alt (No. 98)
- Round 5: DT Byron Murphy II (No. 159)
- Round 6: RB Javonte Williams (No. 162)
- Round 7: CB Marcus Jones (No. 223)
Overall thoughts on Patriots picks
For starters, Patriots fans probably won't love the idea of going from Drake Maye at quarterback to Brock Purdy. No offense to Purdy, who has been a major success story as a seventh-round draft pick, but Maye is already arguably a top-five quarterback heading into only his third NFL season.
The good news for the Patriots in this mock draft is keeping A.J. Brown at wide receiver and Marcus Jones at cornerback. They also boosted the offensive line with Joe Alt at tackle, while creating a devastating defensive front pairing of Byron Murphy II and DeMarcus Lawrence.
It's a balanced draft that would field a competitive roster for the Patriots, assuming that the current coaching staff remains in place.
Where did the Patriots' stars go?
QB Drake Maye: Cleveland Browns, Round 1 (No. 6 overall)
CB Christian Gonzalez: Los Angeles Rams, Round 4 (No. 100)
