You know what they say: The pitch comes in fast and it can go out faster.

How's 102.3 miles per hour in and 102.7 miles per hour out?

That's what Cincinnati Reds rookie Sal Stewart did to Milwaukee Brewers phenom Jacob Misiorowski on Thursday afternoon.

It's the first pitch of that speed ever hit for a first-inning home run:

In a follow-up post from Friedman, he notes that it's just the 10th such home run of its kind since 2008 in any inning.

He also goes on to point out that hitters overall bat .138 with a .186 slugging percentage against pitches that travel 102-plus miles per hour.

So yeah, this was an incredibly rare feat by Stewart.

The righty Stewart, who also recently reached double-digit steals this season and is now approaching 20 homers, is putting together one of the best rookie seasons at the plate in Reds history.

And not to take away anything from the likes of Johnny Bench or Adam Dunn or Jay Bruce, but they didn't have to face Misiorowski's stuff, which might be the nastiest any starting pitcher has ever had in the history of baseball.

Stewart is special, And while Miz will surely get him out plenty, too, this will be a fun NL Central matchup to watch for years to come.
