Spencer Dinwiddie said he believes Derrick White is the right choice to serve as Colorado's president of basketball strategy, a new role on Tad Boyle's staff. White, now a guard for the Boston Celtics and former NBA champion, returned to Boulder last week in an off-court capacity that the program hopes can help shape its future.

Dinwiddie, who played at Colorado from 2011-14, praised the move in a video shared by the program, saying White represents what the Buffaloes want their next era to look like.

"D-White is Colorado to the core. I can't think of a better person to be president and to help usher in this new NIL era. It’s an inspiration to me," Dinwiddie told the official Colorado men's basketball social media.

White and Dinwiddie never played together, but both left strong marks on Colorado under Tad Boyle. Dinwiddie became a second-round NBA draft pick in 2014 after earning first-team All-Pac-12 honors, while White starred for one season in Boulder before going in the first round of the 2017 NBA Draft.

The Buffs are trying to regain traction after missing the NCAA Tournament for the second consecutive season. They improved in Big 12 play last year, and White's hire signals a sharper push to keep pace in an ever-changing college basketball landscape.
