The Toronto Maple Leafs have a lot of goalies.
That hasn't stopped top NHL insider Elliotte Friedman from suggesting that they may go after Sergei Bobrovsky this offseason.
Bobrovsky is a free agent, and if he doesn't return to the Florida Panthers, he should have a number of suitors.
Friedman thinks the Leafs could want him.

They've got guys who know him (Stolarz and Lorentz), they have space, and Friedman's been wondering about this for a couple weeks

The Maple Leafs already traded Joseph Woll away to the Philadelphia Flyers this offseason, so they're clearing shop a bit.
But on paper, it seemed like they could head into next season with Anthony Stolarz and Dennis Hildeby as their two guys in net.
If they signed Bobrovsky, it puts that tandem in jeopardy. One would probably have to go.
Stolarz has played a lot in the NHL, unlike the youngster Hildeby, but there are at least some in Toronto who are big fans of Hildeby.
It'd be a tough outcome for that portion of the Maple Leafs' fanbase to see Hildeby shipped away just to make room for an aging goalie -- even one who recently won back-to-back Stanley Cups.
The reason the Panthers would let Bobrovsky go at all is that he was poor in 2025-26. Maybe he returns to form, but it's not a given that him joining the Maple Leafs is the smooth omve that Toronto might hope it would be.
