John Deere Classic 2026: Odds, favorites for TPC Deere Run
· Yahoo Sports
The John Deere Classic field might be lacking top 10 players but it does feature plenty of past winners and some of the game's brightest young stars in a tournament that coincides with the celebration of America's 250th birthday.
Last year's winner Brian Campbell enters as a significant longshot, priced at +21000 to repeat. Ben Griffin and Chris Gotterup are the favorites in the American Heartland, with Jordan Spieth looking to recapture magic at TPC Deere Run where he won playoff battles in both 2013 and 2015.

Despite his strong course history, Spieth enters with the same odds as reigning Haskins Award winner Jackson Koivun. Here's a look at the odds for the top 15 favorites listed as of Monday, June 29.

John Deere Classic winner prediction
Koivun looked very capable in his last start as amateur at Shinnecock where he placed T-23 and finished tied with Ryder Cowan as the lowest-scoring amateur in the 2026 U.S. Open field. As tempting as it is to take the Auburn product, we'll stay clear as the number is just too tightly priced. Ah, always the rub when wanting to play the big names.
We'll go a few rungs lower on the ladder and recommend Michael Thorbjornsen at +3200 to get his first PGA Tour win this weekend in Silvis, Illinois.Thorbjornsen's best finish came at this very course two years ago when he placed T-2, four shots behind winner Davis Thompson (more on him in a moment).
He also managed a T-21 finish in 2025 but there's more than just recent history to this play: Thorbjornsen has six T-25 this year and has been fantastic with his driver throughout the first six months of the season, ranking inside the top 20 in both distance and accuracy. Furthermore, he comes in rest not having played the U.S. Open or the Travelers which less than two dozen players in the field can say.
Favorite longshot to win the 2026 John Deere Classic
The aforementioned Davis Thompson is being mispriced at +5100. Although not as good as Thorbjornsen, he's also been strong with his driver this year and sits in the top 50 in most categories. Additionally, he's 32nd in scrambling overall and amongst the top 10 in this week's field. Of course, his putter has betrayed him time and time again. And that's what we're hoping clicks in here to make this longshot hopeful turn into a gigantic payday.
We'll offer up three fun ones even further down the board with the disclaimer that these are deep, deep cuts (see: wager sparingly, if it all): A.J. Ewart (+14000), Chad Ramey (+15000), and Luke Clanton (+17000).
Spark notes reason on each: Ewart has nine T-30 finishes this year and shot a second round 63 at the Charles Schwab Challenge last month; Ramey is 16th in putting and 30th in scrambling (seems mighty high for a guy this forgotten by the oddsmakers); and Clanton has a T-2 finish at this course (in 2024 with Thorbjornsen, plus has to have one of the biggest chips on shoulder given all the Koivun talk this week. Seems like the 22 year old Clanton is being forgotten as an a rising start worth watching on Tour. We're not going to fall into that trap.

Keith Mitchell (+3300) was initially the play but he's playing in his fourth straight event and there's a case to be made that Thursday will be more of a conservative effort than say Sunday at Shinnecock. Consider that case heard.
We'll redirect and offer up Matt Wallace at +5400. Just seems incongruent with his odds to win, where he ranks amongst the top 15 in the field based on expectations from oddsmakers. In the first round prop market, the Italian Open runner-up is 20th. He's plenty of capable of going low — see the 62 he just shot in Torino last weekend. While his stats suggest this is a mid-tier player, Wallace's putting and scrambling are certainly above average and have been borderline elite over the last month. We'll take a hot hand approach and ride with the Englishman on America's birthday. What could possibly go wrong?
John Deere Classic best bet
Coming off back-to-back best bet winners we'll try to make it three in a row over Fourth of July weekend by giving you Michael Kim to place T-20 (including ties) at +175. Following a missed cut at Augusta, Kim has been the epitome of consistency making seven consecutive cuts and placing amongst the top of the field in putting in five of those events. He ranks 19th on Tour in putting and that's something that'll help him in a John Deere field that has a lot of bombers.
Oh, and as for course history: Kim set the tournament scoring record (27 under) on the way to his first career victory back in 2018.
