The Boston Celtics are signing Amari Williams to a two-way contract, per Michael Scotto of HoopsHype. On Monday, June 29, the Boston Celtics declined the team options on the contracts of both Amari Williams and Max Shulga. Both players have just completed their rookie seasons with the Celtics, having been drafted with the 46th and 57th picks, respectively. Brad Stevens quickly moved to ensure that Williams remains within Boston's ecosystem for the upcoming season.

In recent years, Boston's developmental pipeline has been among the best in the NBA. Stevens has leaned into using the Maine Celtics as somewhat of a feeder system for the Celtics to great effect.
"JUST IN: Boston Celtics center Amari Williams has agreed to a deal to return to the Celtics, league sources told @hoopshype," Scotto reported. "Williams appeared in 22 games for Boston last season. He’s represented by agent George S. Langberg of @GSLSportsGroup."
Both Williams and Shulga began last season on two-way deals. However, the Celtics converted their contracts as we got closer to the end of the regular season. Depending on how things play out in the coming months, there's a chance both players could follow a similar pathway in the upcoming campaign.
Williams played a total of 22 regular-season games for the Celtics last season. He averaged 1.4 points and 1.8 rebounds per contest, shooting 50 percent from the field and 71.4 percent from the free-throw line. Of course, Celtics fans will undoubtedly hope that as he continues to develop, we can see some of his passing skills put to good use.
