Adam Peters certainly did not shy away from spending money on the Washington Commanders' defense this offseason. Bringing in new offensive and defensive coordinators adjusted the scheme on both sides of the ball. Defensively, that meant realigning the roster to match the new scheme. Offensively, not much changed, at least, in terms of personnel.

While there are many questions about the offense, many NFL analysts believe the Commanders won't be as good as advertised. So it's not a huge surprise that in USA Today's Nate Davis' latest power rankings, the Commanders rank 23rd in the NFL.

Hard team to get a read on after QB Jayden Daniels' durability issues resurfaced in 2025 following his magical rookie run. GM Adam Peters made some curious personnel additions this offseason, 49ers WR Brandon Aiyuk apparently the next given his anticipated reunion with Daniels, a teammate at Arizona State. Still, this group already has a lot of new pieces to assimilate and quite a lot to prove in order to return to its 2024 form, when Daniels fueled a surprising run to the NFC title game.

Between the injuries to the roster in 2025 and the unknowns surrounding the lack of change on offense, the Commanders are one of a handful of teams that are wild cards in 2026. On paper, it looks like they might be decent, but we won't really know until they hit the field in a real competition this fall.
