The Boston Red Sox signed Walker Buehler to a one-year deal last year, and he was a disaster in Boston.

Buehler had a 5.45 ERA with the Red Sox last season and was released in August. After his stint in Boston, he signed a minor league deal with the Philadelphia Phillies and had a 0.66 ERA in 13 2/3 innings. This year, he signed a minor league deal with the San Diego Padres and just posted his best single-month ERA since August 2021.

Buehler has made five starts this month and has a 1.71 ERA. In 26 1/3 innings, he has 27 strikeouts and has given up just 26 hits. He is finally looking like the pitcher he once was with the Los Angeles Dodgers before injuries got him off track. He was an All-Star in 2019 and 2021.

He suffered a right flexor strain and eventually got Tommy John Surgery in 2022. He missed all of 2023 and came back in 2024, but he did not look the same. However, he did manage to have a dominant October, earning himself a deal with the Red Sox.

He allowed six runs in four postseason outings, but all six of those runs came in one inning against the Padres. His final 13 innings of work were scoreless with 13 strikeouts. He even came on to get the World Series clinching save on one day of rest. Now, he is dominating for one of the Dodgers' biggest rivals.

Buehler has a 3.81 ERA on the season in 16 starts. His last nine starts have been phenomenal after a somewhat shaky start to the year. Fans can add him to the list of players who are thriving after leaving the Red Sox.
