York City striker Josh Stones has signed a new five-year contract.

The 22-year-old played a vital role in helping the Minstermen win the National League title last season, scoring 18 goals in 40 league games.
Stones netted a dramatic equaliser in the 13th minute of stoppage time in a final-day showdown against title rivals Rochdale in April as York returned to the EFL for the first time in 10 years.
York had conceded in the 95th minute to trail the Dale, who would have won automatic promotion with victory, but Stones forced a leveller to clinch top spot with 108 points.
Stones arrived at the LNER Community Stadium from Wigan Athletic in 2025, having previously had loan spells with Oldham Athletic and Scottish side Ross County.
He has scored 26 goals in 63 appearances in all competitions for York.
"It has been in talks now for a long time. I'm buzzing it's finally over the line," Stones said.
