In his 22 years coaching, Leggett led Clemson baseball to the NCAA tournament 21 times. He made six trips to the college world series, and made three to the final four. He was a two time ACC coach of the year with Clemson, was the 7th winningest coach in Division I history at the end of 2015, and is the second winningest baseball coach in Clemson’s history.

When asked about the award, Legget commented that "It is a true reflection of the support of my family, the many hard working and competitive players, loyal assistant coaches, passionate fans, the many supportive administrators, staff and friends and great coaches in the department that I was lucky enough to work alongside during my years at Clemson. I’m honored to be representing the Clemson Athletic Department and our storied baseball program. This is one more of the many great moments and memories that we’ve shared together."

A well earned honor after a historic career, Leggett will be immortalized at Clemson. The Tigers ring of honor adds a deserving name to the group.
