Saints' Cameron Jordan named top-100 player one week after re-signing

· Yahoo Sports

Cameron Jordan is entering what will likely be his final season in the NFL, and he's still getting plenty of respect from his peers. The New Orleans Saints legend was named the No. 100 player on the NFL's Top 100 Players of 2026 list. The ranking, which is voted on by fellow players, says a lot about a player entering his 16th season in the league.

For Jordan, it's his first appearance on the list since 2023, when he was ranked No. 50. Maybe an even bigger takeaway was the way other players around the league talked about Jordan. The 36-year-old defensive end is no longer in the early stages of his prime, but he's still one of the most respected defensive linemen in football. Arizona Cardinals tight end Trey McBride saw that up close last season.

“He's physical, he's tough,” McBride said. “I think he got one or two sacks against us that week. I just think he plays with a lot of heart — he plays with a lot of passion. He's a guy who's been doing it at a high level for a really long time.”

Jordan has never been a player who relied only on flashy moves or pure athleticism. His NFL success has been built on technique, his motor and consistency, which is part of why New York Giants pass rusher Kayvon Thibodeaux still holds his game in such high regard.

“I can't even believe that they allow him to still use that swim,” Thibodeaux joked. “My coach, when I was in Pop Warner, told me to never swim again. I get to college and the NFL, and I see Cam Jordan getting 100 sacks off a swim. So he definitely let me know that. It's not the move, right? It's the person.”

Jordan's 2025 production backed up the praise that he received from his peers. He finished the season with 10.5 sacks, 47 tackles, 15 tackles for loss, and two forced fumbles. It was his first double-digit sack season since 2021 and a reminder that he still has gas in the tank. Now back with the Saints for one last season, Jordan, who is already the franchise's all-time sack leader, will look to cement his Pro Football Hall of Fame case.
