For any team that plays in the NBA Finals, they have gone through some of the most grueling schedules of any team. Across both sides in this year's Finals matchup, the San Antonio Spurs have played significantly more games than the New York Knicks.

Of course, that is down to the Knicks dominating the Eastern Conference with two sweeps and a six-game series back in the first round. Compare that to the Spurs, who played 18 games before they reached the Finals, so fatigue is settling in.

As a younger team, the Spurs are still quite physically fresh compared to older players. However, they are also not used to this kind of load they have played under in the 2026 Playoffs, especially since this is their first postseason run as a group.

Moving forward, the Spurs are well aware that fatigue is affecting them. Despite that, they are playing their hearts out and are ready to beat the fatigue.

As one of the best players, who also plays heavy minutes, Wembanyama is not using it as an excuse. That is a big deal because some people might see him pointing it out as a problem, but it is the reality of the NBA and sports in general.

"Definitely a factor, but it's the playoffs. Everybody's just as tired. I mean, it shouldn't even be a factor in the game. I mean, now we've got two days between games. It's not going to be a factor," Wembanyama said ahead of playing Game 5 in San Antonio.

Wemby is doing a great job of staying competitive and addressing some of the issues they are facing. However, he is not at all excusing him and the Spurs from their blunders because they know what they need to work on ahead of a do-or-die Game 5 for San Antonio.
