PSG Monitoring Barcelona and Spain Forward in Transfer Window

· Yahoo Sports

Now, attention may be on this summer's FIFA World Cup in the USA, Canada and Mexico, but there is still plenty of working going on behind the scenes to make sure PSG have another very good window and can once again compete in the UEFA Champions League.

In recent days, there has been a lot of talk about goings. For example, it is said that PSG's South Korean midfielder/forward, Kang-in Lee, has agreed personal terms on a return to Spain and La Liga with Atletico Madrid, with a deal for the 25-year old said to be close.

Meanwhile, there has once again been talk of a move for winger Bradley Barcola. The Frenchman continues to have interest from the Premier League, but yesterday it was reported that La Liga giants FC Barcelona want the player too.

Well, that's become even more interesting now. Indeed, as Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio is reporting that PSG are monitoring Barca forward Ferran Torres, in the event of a Barcola departure.

The fact this report comes so soon after it was suggested that the La Liga winners are trying to sign Barcola is something to seriously keep in mind. Is it a coincidence? Could the Spaniard be used in a deal for the winger?

In terms of the fit with Torres, he would be very useful in the sense that he has a lot of experience playing on both wings, and in more recent times, as the teams focal point and number nine. He would add serious depth and versatility to the front line if he was to sign.

Looking at the numbers, in La Liga last season the 26 year old scored 16 goals, despite having started just 23 times. For balance, he also missed 20 big chances, so he is certainly not perfect. It does, however, show that he is very good at getting into the right positions.

A cash + player offer for Barcola would be very beneficial for PSG, especially if he does not want to (understandably) be at the club anymore. Let's see. The only thing is, Barclona recently paid a reported 80 million Euros for Anthony Gordon, a left winger. Would they then want to fork out - even if discounted - for another winger? It would certainly be an interesting move.

In this hypothetical instance, they could lose Torres, so perhaps that evens out. But, as touched on earlier, he has played more as a striker for them this season anyway.
