On The Lounge with Ryan Mink and Garrett Downing, Chris Redman opened up about how he defines his coaching style in his first year leading the Louisville Kings, and it starts with relationships, not authority.
“I feel like I’m a players coach a little bit,” Redman said. “I’m all about positive energy, man.”

He explained that his approach is rooted in constant communication and connection with players, something he believes translates directly into performance and trust on the field.
“I’m not going to not talk to them and get to know them,” he said. “People will play for you.”
Redman pointed to lessons learned from his NFL career, where leadership styles varied widely, but the most effective coaches always connected with players beyond the game plan.
“This is not a dictatorship. This is a partnership,” he added.
That philosophy has helped define a first-year expansion team that has quickly developed cohesion and identity. For Redman, coaching isn’t about control—it’s about creating an environment where players want to respond.
