Central Railway’s Railway Protection Force successfully apprehended 7 accused in two separate mobile theft cases and recovering stolen property worth over Rs.22 lakh and busted a Narcotics smuggling racket, recovering narcotics worth more than Rs.2.50 lakh, demonstrating alertness, integrity and devotion to duty, in the month of May 2026.

Case- Bhusaval
On 22.05.2026, acting on information and photographs shared by Kannur Police, Kerala regarding a high-value mobile theft case, a special RPF team formed under the guidance of Sr. DSC/Bhusaval led a planned search operation in Train No. 12617 Ernakulam-Hazrat Nizamuddin Express, before its arrival at Bhusaval station.
The RPF team conducted a thorough search of all coaches. Four suspects matching the circulated photographs were apprehended from a general coach. On search, 37 mobile phones and cash amounting to Rs.25,235 were recovered, with total value of approx. Rs.18.25 lakh.
During interrogation, the accused disclosed that the items were stolen from a mobile shop in Kannur, Kerala. The accused along with recovered property were handed over to Kannur Police in connection with ACR No. 360/2026 registered at Iritty Police Station under relevant sections of BNS. The prompt action and effective coordination by RPF Bhusaval led to the successful recovery of stolen property.
Case- Manmad
In another incident on 05.05.2026, while on patrolling duty at Manmad Railway Station, 2 RPF constables intercepted three suspicious persons and brought them to RPF Post Manmad for verification.
During the search, 28 stolen mobile phones worth approximately Rs.4.08 lakh were recovered from their possession. On interrogation by Inspector/RPF/Manmad, the accused confessed that the mobile phones had been stolen from the Urs Fair at Kalaburagi, Karnataka. After verification with Roza Police Station, Kalaburagi, the three accused along with the recovered 28 mobile phones were handed over to Roza Police in connection with Crime No. 58/2026 registered under Section 303(2) of BNS for further legal action.
Narcotics Cases
Under its ongoing Operation Narcos, Railway Protection Force, Central Railway seized 12.80 kg of ganja-like narcotic substance valued at approx. Rs,2.56 lakh at Nagpur Railway Station and foiled a drug smuggling attempt.
On 04.05.2026, Crime Intelligence Branch Officials, Nagpur, were on crime prevention and surveillance duty at the Foot Over Bridge located on the Mumbai end of Nagpur Railway Station. At about 15:15 hrs, a suspicious person was noticed near the stairs of Platform No. 08 carrying a black-blue trolley bag and a blue backpack.
During questioning and checking of the bags, the person abandoned both bags and fled from the spot. Upon examination by RPF Personnel with Dog Squad member ‘Prince’, 12 packets wrapped in khaki tape were recovered from the trolley bag. The packets were found to contain 12.80 kg of ganja-like narcotic substance, having an estimated value of ₹2,56,000/-.
The contraband was seized and handed over to GRP Police Station, Nagpur for further legal action, where Crime No. 248 under Section 20(b)(2) of the NDPS Act, 1985 was registered.
Central Railway’s RPF has intensified surveillance at stations and in trains under Operation Narcos to curb the menace of drug trafficking through the Railway network. The alertness and prompt action by RPF personnel and Dog Squad at Nagpur led to the successful seizure of contraband. These successful operations reflect the high level of vigilance, inter-agency coordination, and dedication of RPF personnel across Central Railway.
