Tottenham Hotspur make Lucas Chevalier enquiry with Guglielmo Vicario set for summer departure

Tottenham Hotspur have submitted an official enquiry regarding the availability of Paris Saint-Germain goalkeeper Lucas Chevalier. Just weeks after guiding Spurs to safety, manager Roberto De Zerbi is moving quickly to reshape the squad to suit his style, with the goalkeeping position identified as a top priority for change. Current number one Guglielmo Vicario is expected to leave this summer after an underwhelming season at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. Vicario has yet to feature under De Zerbi following late-season hernia surgery, and the Spurs hierarchy are ready to sanction his departure. A return to Serie A is the most likely outcome, with Juventus tracking him as a top alternative after missing out on Liverpool’s Alisson Becker, while Inter Milan also retain an interest.

To fill the impending vacancy, Tottenham have turned their attention to Chevalier. The 24-year-old Frenchman joined PSG from Lille for €40 million and initially established himself as first choice under Luis Enrique. A mid-season change, however, saw him lose his starting spot to Russian keeper Matvey Safonov. Despite being part of the squad that lifted the Champions League trophy in Budapest against Arsenal, Chevalier’s lack of regular minutes in the second half of 2025/26 ultimately cost him a place in France’s World Cup squad. Chevalier is known for his distribution, boasting an 88% pass success rate, the highest among Ligue 1 goalkeepers last season.

PSG are reportedly willing to cut their losses on the goalkeeper, but Tottenham may have to fend off competition from Aston Villa. Unai Emery’s side have also been linked with Chevalier, seeing him as a possible replacement for the heavily coveted Emiliano Martinez.
