Top three bust candidates in the fifth round of NFL fantasy drafts

· Yahoo Sports

Imagine you’re drafting tomorrow in a 12-team PPR league. Who would be the top three bust candidates to fade in the fifth round? The following is based on current average draft positions (ADPs).

Can D.J. Moore still be a weekly fantasy starter? The market is leaning toward “yes,” as suggested by his overall-52 / WR25 ADP. But a crowded Bills receiving corps compounds the challenges for the 29-year-old, who hasn’t produced like a weekly starter since 2023. Even in 2024, he oscillated between greatness (four games with 20+ points) and fantasy bench fodder (seven games with less than five points). He seems like a good bet for top-40 production, but not for top-25.

Quinshon Judkins (overall-56 / RB24 ADP) also makes me nervous, primarily because Cleveland’s offense doesn’t look materially better than it did last year. From a fantasy perspective, Judkins performed somewhere between Trent Richardson and Nick Chubb. He’s a capable bell cow with no meaningful competition. He’s also not active enough through the air to propel his floor. On a low-scoring team frequently playing from behind, Judkins is a long shot to finish in the top 25.

Finally, I’ve always believed in Mike Evans’ greatness. Ten summers ago, I wrote that he could have a 15-year Hall of Fame career. But his overall-57 / WR28 ADP ignores the fact that he’s a nearly 33-year-old coming off an injury-riddled campaign in which he reeled in only 48% of his targets.

His average 1.2 yards after the catch was more than two full yards below his career average. Christian McCaffrey, George Kittle, Ricky Pearsall, Christian Kirk, and second-round rookie De'Zhaun Stribling will compete for looks. Evans is no longer an offensive leader. He’s merely an important cog in a stacked offense. A lot has to go right for him to crack the top 28. Those odds are too steep.
