NY Giants injury news: Abdul Carter twists ankle, leaves practice [updated]
· Yahoo Sports
The injuries seem to keep rolling in for the New York Giants. Edge defender Abdul Carter left the first practice of the Giants’ mandatory mini-camp early with an apparent injury.
Giants fans can breathe a sigh of relief that the injury doesn’t appear to be serious. Head coach John Harbaugh told reporters after practice that Carter twisted his ankle.

Pat Leonard of the New York Daily News initially reported that Carter had his shoe and sock off and was being examined by the Giants’ training staff. He then left the practice field and was walking “very gingerly”.
Update: Jordan Raanan of ESPN is reporting that the current belief is that Carter is “okay” despite the injury scare. We hope to get more information on the nature of what happened soon.
Monday’s practice was open to the media, however whatever happened to the Giants’ second year pass rusher seemed to happen out of sight of the assembled reporters.
Hopefully whatever happened to Carter is mild and something he can easily recover from in the seven weeks between now and the start of training camp. For now, however, the Giants wisdom in holding on to Kayvon Thibodeaux is born out. Having depth — and talented depth at that — at one of the most important positions on the field is always a good thing.
This is a developing situation and we’ll bring more news and updates as we get them.
