Lilibet Diana turned five Thursday and the Duchess of Sussex marked the princess’ big day with a new post on Instagram.
The first photo shows Lilibet being held by her dad Harry while Meghan looks on, both parents beaming at their little girl.
The second is a solo shot of their daughter, barefoot again and in the same pale green embroidered eyelet dress as she gazes at a gorgeous purple flower in what appears to be the family’s Montecito home.
In both shots, Lilibet is wearing her signature red hair loose, concealing her face just enough — in keeping with Meghan’s choice to not expose her children on social media.
“Our dream girl. Happy 5th birthday, Lili,” Meghan captioned the images along with a love heart emoji.
Lili no stranger to mom’s socials
Lilibet was born on June 4, 2021, in California, a year and a half after the Duke and Duchess of Sussex stepped back from royal duties and moved to the United States.
Lili’s older brother Archie, 7, was born in the U.K. on May 6, 2019.
While Harry and Meghan are clearly raising their kids away from the spotlight, Meghan has teased many glimpses of both Lilibet and Archie.
In a May 16 Instagram post, Meghan shared a mirror selfie from her walk-in closet , where she wore a lilac dress with matching coat as her daughter knelt at her feet.
“Mama’s little helper,” she captioned the post, as it appeared Lili was helping dress her mom.
Before that, Meghan’s birthday tribute to son Archie showed a photo of Harry snuggling with their son as a newborn while the second snap showed the backs of Archie and Lilibet as they walked along a beach.
Meghan also shared a photo of Lili and Harry to celebrate Valentine’s Day, while their daughter was also credited with taking a video of the couple as they danced barefoot in grass.
Like mother, like daughter
Meghan spoke about their family life in an interview with PEOPLE last year.
“Once you know us, I think you want us to have the same normalcy as parents and for our children as they do, despite however unique our situation is,” she said of their private life.
At the time, she was launching her brand, As Ever, and about to film her Netflix series With Love, Meghan — both projects being especially meaningful for her and her daughter as the former Suits star builds her legacy.
“Being able to have my own little girl, as I’ve spent so much of my life championing the rights of girls and women, and to be able to see this as a multi-generational story — Archie is of course included in that, my husband is of course included in that — but I love the heritage feeling of it and knowing this is something that I can create in front of my daughter and teach her what it’s like to be a working mom,” she told the publication.
“This is something that hopefully can be part of her legacy too.”
