Trey McBride would like Jacoby Brissett 'back as soon as possible'
· Yahoo Sports
The lingering storyline for the Arizona Cardinals this offseason has been the absence of quarterback Jacoby Brissett from the offseason programs. Since the team opened voluntary offseason workouts nearly two months ago, Brissett has not been with the team, seeking a reworked contract.

The Cardinals are in the final week of voluntary work before next week's mandatory minicamp. He has not had a single offseason rep in the new offense under new head coach Mike LaFleur.
All-Pro tight end Trey McBride, who had a career-high in catches, yards and touchdowns last season, mostly with Brissett starting at quarterback, was asked about the absence of the Cardinals' presumed QB1 when he appeared on NFL Network.
"We'd love to have Jacoby here," McBride said. "He's the guy who got me all those yards and catches last year, so I'd love to have him here, but he's dealing with something right now."
Players generally understand that they have to do things for the business side, and missing voluntary workouts is a reasonable thing.
McBride noted that he has been getting lots of work with quarterback Gardner Minshew, who signed with the Cardinals as a free agent this offseason.
"We're all learning the offense. We're all trying to figure this thing out together, and it's been a learning curve for everybody, so we've been rolling as much as we can, and it's been a lot of fun."
He finished by reiterating, "We'd love to get Jacoby back as soon as possible."
The interesting thing is that McBride said what the problem is. While Brissett is a veteran, he hasn't worked in the Cardinals' new offense. If it has been a learning curve for those who are in the building, will minicamp be enough for Brissett if he shows up next week for that? Will he be too far behind?
McBride isn't going to criticize his teammate. Players need to do what they need to do on the business side. But as much as players and coaches downplay the absence, it isn't nothing. There is an impact.
We will see if this gets resolved.
