The Los Angeles Dodgers have had their fair share of injuries across the roster, whether it is everyday players, bullpen arms, or starters. Pitchers like Blake Snell and Tyler Glasnow have also dealt with multiple injuries this season.

For the Dodgers, bullpen arm Brusdar Graterol missed all of last season, which was a difficult blow for the flamethrower.

“Graterol underwent surgery after the World Series to repair the labrum in his right shoulder. It's a major procedure with a long timetable for recovery, and Graterol was not expected to pitch this year before the All-Star break. Unsurprisingly, the Dodgers placed Graterol on the injured list in March. Although Graterol had reported to the Dodgers' Camelback Ranch complex in Arizona to begin his rehab, manager Dave Roberts said Wednesday the pitcher has not been cleared to begin a throwing program. Now, Roberts said, it appears unlikely Graterol will have enough time to pitch in 2025,” SI’s JP Hoornstra reported.

This season, Graterol had just made it to Triple-A when he was injured again, this time with a back issue.

“Brusdar Graterol is getting pulled off of his rehab assignment and undergoing further evaluation, sources said. His back flared up on him and he’s going in for imaging,” The Athletic’s Fabian Ardaya posted.

This was an unfortunate setback for Graterol, as he was so close to returning for the first time in over a year. It was then announced by Graterol that he had undergone back surgery.

“Dodgers reliever Brusdar Graterol underwent back surgery, he announced on Instagram today. His status for the rest of the season is unclear, but it'll likely be another long-term recovery process,” California Post’s Jack Harris wrote.

This is heartbreaking news for Graterol, as he was looking forward to getting back to the active roster. A back injury is difficult to recover from in a short period of time. Graterol is on a $2.8 million contract this season.

While there is not a strong expectation that he returns this season, the Dodgers certainly hope he will be able to contribute again. Graterol was a key piece in past World Series runs for Los Angeles. If he does not return this year, he will look to come back with a vengeance next season.
