It was a big sweep for the Los Angeles Dodgers as they improved to 16 games over .500 and carved out a clear lead in the NL West, but it didn’t come out without a price.

On Tuesday, Kiké Hernández exited the game following a home run and a double after slowing down around the bases to score. It was revealed that he had strained his oblique the day prior and is now looking at more time on the bench after sitting out the first third of the season due to elbow surgery.

On Wednesday, another Hernandez suffered an injury: the surging Teoscar Hernandez, who strained his hamstring trying to beat a groundout to first base early in the game against the Rockies.

It was an overall strange night for the Dodgers, as Shohei Ohtani had the worst pitching start of the season but still no-hit the Rockies through six while giving up a run due to walks and a hit batter.

The Dodgers overall came close to throwing their first no-hitter since 2018, but it came up four outs short as Tanner Scott gave up a single in the top of the eighth inning. Kyle Hurt came in for the ninth and finished the Rockies off by only allowing them a single hit during the evening, with the Dodgers winning off solo shots from Ohtani, Freddie Freeman, and Andy Pages.

For Teoscar, however, it will be straight to the injured list, as Dave Roberts announced post-game that Hernandez is at least looking at “several weeks” sidelined with the hamstring pull.

In the meantime, the Dodgers will hope to continue their winning ways without Hernandez, as players like Alex Call and minor leaguers such as James Tibbs III might see more playing time in the aftermath.

The 36-20 Dodgers will now look to continue their current hot streak against an equally red-hot team in the Philadelphia Phillies, who have turned around their lost season following the appointment of former Dodgers manager Don Mattingly.
