The Cincinnati Bengals and Joe Burrow have missed the playoffs for three straight seasons, and it is clear that the urgency to return is high.

With Burrow seen as one of the best quarterbacks in football, the Bengals have had the offense capable of winning it all, but not the defense. Well, they think they do now after adding Dexter Lawrence.

And Burrow does as well, with his statement of the Bengals winning a lot of games in 2026 and winning the Super Bowl, making the rounds across the NFL landscape.

But Sports Illustrated's Albert Breer has read between the lines of Joe's comment.

"Re: Joe Burrow’s comments … I’ve always thought Burrow has a great feel for whatever his locker room needs to hear," Breer wrote. "And I’d take what he said as putting a little urgency on a group that he thinks is good enough to chase a championship. Remember, after making consecutive AFC title games in Burrow’s second and third years, the Bengals have missed the playoffs five consecutive years."

Can Bengals win the Super Bowl?

Well, we are in May, so any definitive statements now are foolish, but I'll humor you.

Yes, they can, but two things have to happen. Burrow has to play all 17 regular-season games, and the defense finally has to show improvement to the point where they aren't giving up 30 points each week.

Those two things happen, and you can make a real case that the Bengals have as good a shot as anyone in football to hoist the Lombardi Trophy.

Now, will those things happen? Your guess is as good as mine, and training camp is often a time when injuries happen, so Cincinnati will have to carefully navigate that, but there's no reason why the Bengals can't heed Burrow's words and win the Super Bowl.
