Former Michigan State football cornerback Malcolm Bell recorded his first career interception during a Canadian Football League (CFL) preseason game on Saturday. Bell plays for the Saskatchewan Roughriders and his interception came during a 31-27 win over the Winnipeg Blue Bombers.

You can see a highlight of the play in the embedded social media X post below:

Bell was selected by the Roughriders in the first round of the 2026 CFL Draft this spring. He originally got a chance with the Cleveland Browns as a minicamp invitee, but ultimately it looks like he'll be moving forward with the Roughriders for now.

Bell transferred to Michigan State ahead of the 2025 season after playing four years at UConn. He appeared in all 12 games for the Spartans during his lone season in East Lansing, Mich., recording 49 tackles, five tackles for loss, one sack and six passes defended.

The official CFL regular season will get started for Bell on June 13 against the B.C. Lions. We'll be following Bell during the CFL season this summer to see if he continues to make a name for himself north of the border.
