Good Morning, Illini Nation: Offer out to 2027 center Lewis Uvwo
· Yahoo Sports
May 24—Lewis Uvwo has seen his recruitment hit a new level this week with more than a dozen new scholarship offers from power conference programs. Illinois is included in that group, with Brad Underwood and Co. now in pursuit of the 6-foot-10, 225-pound Nigerian center.
Uvwo played last season at Prolific Prep (Fla.), teaming up with an impressive roster that included star seniors Caleb Holt and Bruce Branch III, who will play at Arizona and BYU, respectively, during the 2025-26 season. Another Illini target, five-star Class of 2027 guard Nasir Anderson, was also part of the Crew's star-studded roster.

Uvwo's suddenly high-powered recruitment, though, is more a result of how he's fared on the Nike EYBL circuit this spring. The four-star recruit is the blocked shots leader in the EYBL, swatting an absurd 6.1 shots per game, while also averaging 9.1 points and 6.4 rebounds for Florida-based Nightrydas.
The other newcomers to Uvwo's recruitment in the last week included Oklahoma, USC, Mississippi, Texas A&M, Seton Hall, Miami, Providence, Syracuse, Cincinnati, Kentucky, Indiana and Michigan. He also holds offers from Texas, Mississippi State, LSU, Baylor, UMBC, BYU and UCLA.
