The British driver faced multiple setbacks throughout Indianapolis 500 practice and qualifying while simultaneously preparing for her historic Double Duty attempt between Indianapolis and Charlotte.
Legge is aiming to become the first woman to complete both the Indianapolis 500 and Coca-Cola 600 on the same day, adding even greater pressure to an already demanding month.

Katherine Legge said the build-up to the Indianapolis 500 quickly became one of the most difficult preparation periods of her career.
“If it could go wrong, it did go wrong… But this is when you want it to, in order to be ready for Sunday.”
Mechanical issues and on-track incidents repeatedly disrupted Legge’s preparation programme throughout Indianapolis 500 week, forcing her to constantly adapt under pressure.
Despite the setbacks, Legge stressed the importance of mentally resetting before race day after such a turbulent week at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
Her comments reflected a mixture of frustration and relief after finally reaching race weekend following several difficult days both in the garage and on track.
Legge balancing Indianapolis and NASCAR Double Duty challenge
Alongside the Indianapolis 500 itself, Legge is also preparing for the enormous physical and logistical challenge involved with competing in NASCAR’s Coca-Cola 600 later the same day.
The Double Duty challenge requires drivers to rapidly transition between completely different cars, race strategies and driving styles across roughly 1,100 miles of competition.
Legge’s difficult Indianapolis preparation only increased the complexity surrounding the crossover attempt, particularly given the physical demands involved following multiple setbacks earlier in the week.
Despite everything, Legge remains determined and focused as she attempts to make American motorsport history.
For Legge, simply arriving at race day after such a chaotic preparation period already represents a significant achievement before either race has even started.
