On Saturday, March 23, The Guardian published the full list of players Mauricio Pochettino is reportedly set to include on his squad for the tournament on home soil.
Many of the names weren't a surprise, but there were some inclusions and omissions that will generate plenty of discussion.
Tanner Tessmann, who was expected to make the roster at central midfield, was not selected. The Lyon man has recently been dealing with a muscle injury. It's unclear if his omission was because of that issue.
Confirming a previous report from The Athletic, Gio Reyna was included on the team with Diego Luna missing the cut.
With Luna out, there was room for Club América winger Alejandro Zendejas, who hasn't been with the team since September.
The team only has four recognized central midfielders, with Tyler Adams, Weston McKennie and MLS pair Cristian Roldan and Sebastian Berhalter making the roster. Middlesbrough midfielder Aidan Morris missed the cut along with the injured Johnny Cardoso.
Chris Richards, the team's rock in central defense, is on the squad despite a recent ankle injury that seemed to put his status in doubt.
Below is the full roster The Guardian obtained:
Goalkeepers (3): Matt Freese, Chris Brady, Matt Turner
Defenders (10): Max Arfsten, Sergiño Dest, Alex Freeman, Mark McKenzie, Tim Ream, Chris Richards, Antonee Robinson, Miles Robinson, Auston Trusty, Joe Scally
Midfielders (6): Tyler Adams, Sebastian Berhalter, Cristian Roldan, Weston McKennie, Gio Reyna, Malik Tillman
Forwards (7): Brenden Aaronson, Haji Wright, Folarin Balogun, Christian Pulisic, Ricardo Pepi, Tim Weah, Alejandro Zendejas
