It's getting hard to defend college basketball these days. Between the incredibly unpopular decision to expand the NCAA Tournament to 76 teams and the emerging trend of nearly 30-year-old professional basketball players deciding to give college another shot, the sport is not exactly in a great place.

The latest player to capitalize on the NCAA loophole is former Boston Celtics draft pick Yam Madar.

Madar was picked 47th overall in the 2020 NBA Draft. He played for the Celtics' summer league team the following season, but an injury ended his career in Boston.

He then shipped himself overseas, where he has been playing in the EuroLeague ever since. Madar spent this past season playing for Hapoel Tel Aviv.

He is said to be accepting a $5 million NIL check to join new head coach Will Wade's team in Baton Rouge, LA.

The deal is not confirmed quite yet, as a six-year professional, there are clearly some eligibility concerns to sift through.

However, Wade seems convinced and adamant that Madar will be a part of his Tigers come fall.

Madar would be joining fellow Israeli professional Marcio Santos, whom Wade also recruited to LSU.

Anything goes in college basketball, so don't feel too bad if you miss some of your favorite Celtics Summer League standouts. They could suit up for your alma mater one day.
