It seems that Deion Sanders is very bothered that the NFL teams that drafted his top two players from Colorado in 2024 did not seek out his opinion about how to best use them.

Most football fans are well aware of the fact that Sanders has a very high opinion of himself. He was a rare two-pro sport athlete who became a Hall of Famer in the NFL after being an eight-time Pro Bowler and one of, if not the greatest, cornerbacks of all time.

Sanders has also put together a solid resume as a coach in the college ranks and helped put Colorado back on the map as a notable program. His greatest success came when he led the Buffaloes to a 9-4 record, and his son Shedeur Sanders and two-way star Travis Hunter played a huge role in that. Unsurprisingly, both were drafted last year, with the latter being a first-round pick.

However, they both had struggles in their debut seasons. And it seems that Sanders thinks that could have been avoided, and they would be set for even better sophomore seasons if the teams that drafted them, the Cleveland Browns and Jacksonville Jaguars, sought out his opinion on how to best use them.

“I want to meet him,” Sanders told Garret Bush about new Browns head coach Todd Monken. “Because I think it’s vital that as a coach, not the dad, I can tell him a few things about [Shedeur], how to get him going. That wasn’t asked of me a year ago. I don’t understand it.

“Even a guy like Travis Hunter, being drafted to Jacksonville, and I’ve had him for the last three,” he added. “Don’t you think you would want to talk to me to let me know, to ask me how — what gets him going and what backs him off, and what, like, you wouldn’t want to know that?”

Sanders makes a fair case. He would know those two players as well as anyone, and his insight could be helpful in setting up plans for those two players. However, it might be further proof of Sanders’ bold personality not being welcome in some NFL circles since the Browns and Jaguars passed on those opportunities.
