Texas A&M's Lone Star Showdown against Texas scheduled for primetime

· Yahoo Sports

Texas A&M football's greatest rivalry, the Week 13 Lone Star Showdown against Texas, has been officially scheduled for 6:30 p.m. CT, 7:30 p.m. ET on Friday, November 27, and will be aired on ABC.

The Lone Star showdown was traditionally played on Thanksgiving, giving sports fans in Texas an excellent matchup to wrap up the holiday after the Dallas Cowboys' annual Thanksgiving afternoon game. After Texas joined the SEC and the rivalry resumed, however, the game was rescheduled to a time more friendly for in-person spectators. In 2024, the match was on a Saturday in College Station, while last season it was moved to Friday in Austin.

After making the College Football Playoffs for the first time in program history, Texas A&M was rewarded with a 10th-place rank in ESPN's way-too-early Top-25. The Aggies have a high-octane offensive unit, led by junior QB Marcel Reed and an exciting cast of receivers, yet ESPN has Texas ranked five spots higher at #5.

While we still have over half a year until the matchup begins, ABC's early scheduling indicates it is a highly anticipated game.
