According to Bill Huber of Packers on SI, the Green Bay Packers did not sign veteran wide receiver Chase Claypool, who was one of nine players to try out for the team during rookie minicamp over the weekend. None of the nine tryout players were signed, per Huber.

Claypool was drafted 49th overall by the Pittsburgh Steelers in the 2020 NFL Draft. In 58 career games, Claypool totaled 175 receptions, 2,261 receiving yards, and 13 touchdowns.
After a promising start to his career, Claypool hasn’t played in an NFL game since 2023. In 2024, he participated in Buffalo Bills training camp but was released with an injury settlement. Now healthy, Claypool has been trying to get signed for almost a year.
At 6-4, 238 pounds with 4.4 speed , it makes sense why the Packers would want to take a look at Claypool. He’s a prototypical Green Bay wide receiver, whom they apparently tried to trade for during the 2022 season before he was sent to the Chicago Bears.
“You guys saw him, right?” Matt LaFleur said after Friday’s practice. “Certainly, he had a great film out there. He’s been productive, and he looks like he’s in great shape. He’s big. So, we’ll see how it goes.”
Despite the positive remarks from LaFleur and parting ways with Romeo Doubs and Dontayvion Wicks this offseason, the team is passing on Claypool for now. He is still a free agent and available to sign with any team.
