With pick No. 243, the Texans landed Indiana linebacker Aiden Fisher to bolster the second level of the defense. He should be considered a fan favorite and a Day 3 gem should he transform into the next standout for DeMeco Ryans' defense.
Fisher ended his time in Bloomington as the program’s first defender to earn multiple All-America nods. He becomes the first Hoosiers linebacker to be drafted since Micah McFadden, who was selected in the fifth round of the 2022 draft by the New York Giants.
A team captain for three seasons under Cignetti, scouts have called him a hard worker and film junkie. Known for having a quick and elite football IQ, especially in the pre-snap advantage, there's a chance for the Texans to land a stud to close out the draft class
Here's a breakdown of everything you need to know about Fisher and what he brings to the Texans' defense in 2026.
The Basics
Height: 6-foot
Weight: 232 pounds
Age: 23
From: Fredericksburg, VA
Background
Fisher logged 108 tackles, six tackles for loss, 1.5 sacks, an interception, and seven passes defended in 2023, earning third-team All-Sun Belt honors. Then, he followed Curt Cignetti to Indiana and enjoyed another highly productive campaign with 118 tackles, 5.5 TFLs, 1.5 sacks, and four PDs. That led to the Fredericksburg, Va. native becoming the Hoosiers' first All-American linebacker and a first-team All-Big Ten bid. He followed that up with another first-team All-Big Ten selection, racking up 97 tackles, 10.5 TFLs, 4.5 sacks, and 2 interceptions (1 pick-six) this past season. - Bleacher Report's Scouting Department
Lance Zierlein's Scouting Report
"Fisher is a Mike linebacker who can run the defense as an extension of his coordinator. He’s well-built with leadership and football character that are praised by teammates and coaches. Fisher has the instincts and feel of an NFL player but lacks the needed quickness and athletic ability. He reads play designs and gets to the action at a high rate, but a lack of range, cover talent and plus open-field tackling will make the NFL jump challenging." - NFL.com's Lance Zierlein
RAS Score
RAS Score: 6.29 out of a possible 10.00

Grade: A
"Fisher's upside as a hitter and leadership skills make him worthy of the selection as a late flyer. He's going to be a dark horse to make the team, but given his potential, it's easy to bet on the upside. For a Day 3 pick, this might be my second-favorite of the draft class." - Cole Thompson
Year 1 Role
The Texans will need him to be a standout on special teams, but from a persona standpoint, he's made of the right stuff that DeMeco Ryans loves. He could end up becoming a No. 4 or No. 5 option among linebackers and an upgrade over Jaken Hansen or Jamal Hill.
