Liam Rosenior “never had a chance” to get rid of players who didn’t support him

Chelsea’s dressing room saw off Liam Rosenior, and will do the same to their next coach if they’re not brought into line.

Chelsea’s dressing room is a major talking point at the moment. They effectively got Liam Rosenior sacked by giving up on him, and Premier League legend Gareth Barry spoke about that in quotes picked up by the Evening Standard.

Toxic dressing room “leaks into” team’s performance

“We all know the dressing room is so strong if you get two or three players starting to doubt the manager’s beliefs or his methods, it naturally creeps in. If those few players aren’t happy, they’re not going to be performing at the levels they can if something’s eating away at them, and it can leak into the whole team’s performance,” Barry pointed out.

“I’ve had small periods of that in my career. The manager is desperate, they can see that this player is affecting the dressing room, they want to get them out, but in football, you can’t do that overnight. Liam Rosenior wouldn’t have had a chance to do something about it.”

Rosenior knew who was stabbing him in the back, but never had a chance to do anything about it.

Barry also looked at the Chelsea dressing room situation in terms of Cole Palmer, and how it might be making the attacker consider his future.

Another player who could leave the Blues this summer is Nicolas Jackson, and there are a number of clubs lining up to try and make that happen.
