Barcelona captain steps up with heartfelt words for injured talent

Barcelona first-team captain Ronald Araujo has reached out with a message of support to young defender Patricio Pacifico following his serious knee injury, in a moment that shows the unity within Barcelona’s dressing room.

The setback comes at a difficult time for the 20-year-old, who had only recently begun to establish himself with Barça Atletic after arriving on loan from Defensor Sporting in January.

Pacifico had shown promising signs early on, quickly earning a starting role and adapting well to the demands of Spanish football.

His progress, however, was abruptly halted during the reserve team’s clash against UE Olot.

The injury occurred late in the game, turning what initially looked like a minor issue into a major concern within hours.

Subsequent medical tests confirmed a rupture of the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee, one of the most serious injuries a footballer can face.

The expected recovery period is around nine months, effectively ending his current season and delaying his development at a crucial stage.

The news has been met with strong support from within the club, particularly from senior players.

Araujo, one of the leaders in the squad, took to social media to send a direct message to the young defender, offering encouragement during what is likely to be a long recovery process.

“You will come back stronger, dear Pato,” he wrote.

Before the injury, Pacifico had made seven appearances for Barça Atletic, starting every match and contributing with a goal.

His performances had already caught attention internally, with opportunities to train alongside the first team further showing the club’s belief in his potential.

But now, the focus shifts entirely to recovery.
