The Giants traded the Pro Bowl defensive tackle to the Cincinnati Bengals in exchange for a package that includes the No. 10 overall pick of the 2026 NFL Draft, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.
Lawrence will reportedly be receiving his desired extension with his new team.

The deal is pending a physical — no small thing as we learned from Maxx Crosby and the Baltimore Ravens — with Lawrence reportedly scheduled to travel to Cincinnati on Sunday.
Assuming it goes through, the Giants will have both No. 5 and No. 10 pick in the draft.
The move follows Lawrence’s trade request in March and his absence from the team’s offseason workout program, both believed to be related to his contract. He was set to earn $20 million this season and has two years remaining on his current deal, with no guaranteed money remaining.
Despite public comments from head coach John Harbaugh and general manager Joe Schoen expressing hope that Lawrence would return, Schoen reportedly began engaging with teams on potential trade scenarios in April.
Since being selected in the first round out of Clemson in 2019, Lawrence has been a cornerstone of the Giants’ defensive line through multiple roster transitions. While injuries limited him and contributed to what some viewed as a down season, his numbers suggest he remained highly impactful.
Per analyst Warren Sharp, Lawrence has been double-teamed more than any other defensive tackle since 2024, and his 2024 double-team rate was the highest at the position since 2018, underscoring the attention he commands from opposing offenses.
Overall, Lawrence provides a level of pressure to quarterbacks you just don’t see from other nose tackles. Via Sharp, his 108 pressures since 2022 leads the position and is chasmically higher than the nose tackle with the second-most, Vita Vea at 32.
