Question marks have hung over Fernandez’s future ever since the Blues were eliminated 8-2 on aggregate by PSG in the Champions League.

Fernandez was handed a two game ban for comments made in regards to his future during the March international break.

Chelsea’s transfer stance on Enzo Fernandez

The Argentine sat out the games against Port Vale and Manchester City, but is available once again for Saturday night’s game against Manchester United.

Liam Rosenior confirmed Fernandez had trained well this week, and it would be a surprise if he didn’t go straight back into the starting line-up.

Despite being available for selection again there are still major doubts over whether Fernandez will be here next season, amid links with a move to Real Madrid.

It’s thought Fernandez is no longer viewed by Chelsea as untouchable, but BBC Sport have reported it would take close to the initial £88m they sold Eden Hazard to Real Madrid for to even consider a sale.

The report adds the valuation reflects not only Fernandez’s importance on the pitch, but also financial necessity.

Fernandez had been in negotiations with Chelsea over a new deal, but was unable to reach an agreement with the club over increased wages.

His contract still runs until 2032, and negotiations are expected to resume this summer once the World Cup has finished.
