Brooklyn Hall Commits To Marquette
· Yahoo Sports
The college basketball offseason inches along, and so does Cara Consuegra’s pursuit of assembling a roster that she can actually put on the floor for the 2026-27 season. We got a little bit of forward momentum in that regard on Thursday, as South Florida transfer Brooklyn Hall announced her commitment to Marquette.

Hall signed to play for the Bulls back in November 2025, not long after head coach Jose Fernandez left the program to become the new head coach of the Dallas Wings. Keeping that in mind, it’s a little bit surprising that Hall left Western Reserve Academy in Ohio — the same high school that produced MU men’s basketball players Damarius Owens and Royce Parham — and enrolled mid-year at USF.

You’d think that she would take advantage of the interim coaching situation to end up re-opening her recruitment and going from there, but instead she went to Tampa. On April 7th, about two weeks after USF announced the hiring of Kristy Curry as the new WBB head coach, Hall put her name into the transfer portal after having sat out the rest of the 2025-26 season.

That means the former Class of 2026 prospect arrives at Marquette right on time for the start of her original window of eligibility and thus has four seasons of playing time ahead of her with the Golden Eagles. You have to figure that brand new MU assistant coach Sheila Boykin did a lot of the work to bring in Hall here, seeing as Boykin was at USF for the past three seasons and obviously would have had some part in 1) recruiting Hall, 2) signing Hall after Fernandez left, and 3) enrolling Hall at mid-season. It doesn’t hurt that Cara Consuegra was recruiting Hall in the first place, offering her a scholarship back in November 2024.
Let’s drop in the text of the USF press release from when Hall signed back in November of 2025:
Hall is the No. 2 Forward in the state of Ohio and the No. 5 player overall according to Prep Girls Hoops. She is a consensus four-star recruit according to ESPN, is ranked No. 64 nationally in the All-Star Girls Report (ASGR) Top 350 with a 95 rating, and carries a 91-scout grade from ESPN. Recognized among Ohio’s top prospects by Prep Girls Hoops, Hall brings a rare blend of size, skill, and versatility to the Bulls’ frontcourt.
“Brooklyn is a dynamic, skilled wing who can play inside or out,” said Head Coach Woods-Baxter. “She has great instincts, rebounds with purpose, and shoots the ball at a high level. Her versatility and competitiveness make her a perfect fit for our system.”
Hall starred for Western Reserve Academy during the 2024–25 season, averaging 18.9 points, 6.1 rebounds, 2.6 assists, 2.0 steals, and 1.0 blocks per game. She also led the state of Ohio in free throws made (156) — ranking No. 1 in Ohio and No. 71 nationally.

And now, the freshly updated Marquette women’s basketball scholarship chart.
For the time being, Marquette is going from a senior heavy roster to a freshman heavy roster. I don’t think that will last with eight roster spots sitting open, but at least for right now, it’s hard to see a future for Consuegra’s Golden Eagles that doesn’t involve the four freshmen playing some kind of role right away next season. On the same note, I also can’t tell you where Consuegra goes next from here, because you can easily make the argument that the Golden Eagles need a little bit of everything right now. The one thing that Marquette definitely needs right now is bigs as I wouldn’t qualify anyone on the roster in that category, even if Halle Vice did do some quality work around the rim last season.
