Marco Bezzecchi has given his early thoughts on riding the Adelaide Street Circuit and what it could mean for MotoGP.

The move from Phillip Island to the Adelaide Street Circuit, set for 2027, has sparked plenty of conversation across the paddock.
Phillip Island is known for its stunning scenery and some of the most memorable races in MotoGP history. Riders and fans have long considered it a highlight of the calendar, both for its layout and its atmosphere.
But with Liberty Media now in control, MotoGP opted to switch venues, aiming to bring something fresh to the schedule.
While Bezzecchi is looking forward to the challenge of racing in a new setting, he knows there will be some adjustments needed, especially with how tight and unforgiving street circuits can be.
Bezzecchi says losing Phillip Island is a shame as MotoGP prepares for Adelaide switch

While he admitted that it was a shame to lose such an iconic venue, he remained positive about the move and was hopeful about the event’s future.
“It’s a pity not to go to Phillip Island anymore. As you said, it’s a wonderful and historic track. It’s very beautiful to ride,” Bezzecchi said.
“But in the end, it’s also super cool to reach new cities, and we will go to Adelaide. It looks fantastic. Racing in the city with bikes will not be easy.”
There have been concerns about whether or not safety standards will be up to par at the new circuit when MotoGP moves there in 2027, but Bezzecchi is optimistic that things will come together properly.

Some fans believe MotoGP used Adelaide as a red herring to justify moving away from Phillip Island, in an effort to try and expand the sport further.
Carmelo Ezpeleta hinted Phillip Island was a safety hazard when justifying the move to the Adelaide Street Circuit in 2027.
However, given Bezzecchi’s comments, along with many other experts, there seems to be a similar safety concern when it comes to Adelaide as well.
Perhaps MotoGP opted to move their race to Adelaide in order to attract new eyeballs to the sport. The Adelaide Street Circuit is one of the most iconic tracks in Supercars, the most popular motorsport domestically within Australia.
For MotoGP, a move to a more popular and fan-friendly track like Adelaide could boost their popularity but could also put their riders at risk.
