Transfer portal names to watch for Texas Longhorns basketball

· Yahoo Sports

The Longhorns saw their season come to an end last week with a Sweet Sixteen loss to Purdue. As it always goes, the attention immediately turned to next year and particularly the portal addition Sean Miller could make. This is the first of what will be many editions of portal names to watch that could fill out the Longhorns’ roster next season.

Decisions from Dailyn Swain and Matas Vokeitaitis will dictate much of this, but here are the early names to circle:

Visit asg-reflektory.pl for more information.

Villanova G Adacen Lewis: The Longhorns are obviously looking for backcourt replacements for Pope, Mark and Weaver. This is the clear #1 target on the board right now to step into that role. The Villanova guard put together a strong rookie season, averaging 12 points, 3 rebounds and 5 assists per game. He’s a remarkable downhill guard that does a great job of finishing around the basket. It seems Texas will have to compete with Miami and Kentucky for his services, but if the Longhorns can land him, he could be the maestro of the offense next season.

Kansas F Bryson Tiller: Another rising sophomore that Texas is circling is the former Jayhawk. Tiller had an up and down rookie campaign but put together multiple elite performances, including a 21 point, 7 rebound game against BYU. There is a worry about the backup to Vokeitaitis heading into next season. This would likely answer that concern and give the Longhorns a big man with elite athleticism and potential.

Colorado PG Isiah Johnson: This was the first player Texas was tied to in this portal cycle. Johnson is one of the best scorers among the portal players, averaging nearly 17 points per game on 48.6% shooting this season. Unlike Adacen Lewis, he isn’t the pure PG Texas might need but they’ll need a scoring threat in the backcourt which Johnson could answer. If Sean Miller can find a way to reel in Lewis and Johnson, that’ll make one of the most dangerous backcourts in the SEC.

Utah F Keanu Dawes: Another possible frontcourt answer is the former Utah forward, Keanu Dawes. Unlike the rest of these targets, Dawes is entering his senior season with tons of experience. Coming off a season where he averaged 12.5 points and nearly 9 rebounds per game, he can bring the rebounding presence Texas needs. It’s unclear where Texas sits in his recruitment early but he’d be a great running mate for Vokeitaitis with his ability to stretch the floor.
