Wilder addressed the possibility of facing Itauma following his victory. The former world champion made clear he is open to testing himself against any opponent in the division.

“I’m in the heavyweight division, all these other characters are in the heavyweight division, why not?” he said (via Boxing News).

“I’m not dodging anyone. I’m a veteran in the game, and I’m looking forward to fighting any and all, especially if the fans want to see it, then why not? Let’s see.”

He also admitted he was initially unfamiliar with Itauma before reviewing his recent performances. That included the Brit’s knockout win over Jermaine Franklin.

“I didn’t know who Moses was. I’ve seen some of his highlights. I’ve seen his last fight against Franklin. What a hell of a KO that he did. And he seems like a potential champion that you guys have here. So hey, why not test him out?” the 40-year-old stated.

Wilder’s comments suggest he views the fight as both a challenge and an opportunity. Testing himself against the 21-year-old Briton could help define his next chapter in the sport.

Moses Itauma said he was open to Deontay Wilder bout

Itauma has already addressed the possibility of facing Wilder before the Chisora bout. He indicated he would consider the fight depending on the outcome.

He told DAZN: “If he wins, yeah. But if he loses, what’s it like? He’s lost to Zhang, and it’s not like he’s just lost closely, he lost badly.

“But I’m not hating on him. Do you get what I mean? You gotta kind of weigh up the risk to reward. Like, what you gain out of winning him, or would you lose it out of winning him?

“Obviously, he’s a legend in the sport, and I do respect him. But it’s like, you need to weigh up the pros and cons.”
