Suns hit more injury trouble as Jordan Goodwin exits against Hornets

CHARLOTTE — The Phoenix Suns’ 127-107 loss to the Charlotte Hornets Thursday came with more injury concerns, as Jordan Goodwin has been confirmed to have sustained a left calf injury.

Goodwin limped off the court toward the end of the third quarter after a Hornets player fell on him while both were going after a loose ball. He did not return to the bench for the rest of the game.
Head coach Jordan Ott confirmed the injury to team sideline reporter Amanda Pflugrad but did not disclose the extent of it. With no word on how long he could be sidelined, Phoenix now has another concern to address as the regular season winds down and the team looks toward the play-in.
Goodwin has been a versatile contributor this season, averaging 8.7 points, 4.9 rebounds and 2.2 assists. He is known as a player who can swing the momentum of a game from beyond the arc.
The guard’s ability to defend multiple positions and create opportunities in transition has also boosted the club defensively.

Now, with uncertainty around the severity of his injury, Phoenix will once again need to rely heavily on its depth with only five games remaining. The Suns still hold the No. 7 seed in the Western Conference, but with a challenging schedule ahead against multiple top teams, Goodwin’s absence could affect how they move forward.
